In low-voltage installations, approximately 80% of the conductors fall within the crosssectional area ranges monitored by Qualifio. Considering that circuits with the potential for non-compliance account for 22.4% of total energy consumption (40% × 80% × 70%) and applying the average ohmic resistance deviation identified by Qualifio (30%), the additional energy losses attributable to non-compliance are estimated at approximately 7% of Brazil’s total energy consumption. Estimated physical losses increased from approximately 32,700 GWh in 2019 to around 38,200 GWh in 2024/2025, reflecting the growth in national electricity consumption, which rose from 482 TWh in 2019 to 562.7 TWh in 2025. In financial terms, the annual cost of these losses in 2025 is estimated at approximately BRL 13.0 billion, up from BRL 9.2 billion in the 2021 estimate, reflecting both the increase in energy consumption and the inflation adjustment based on the IPCA. Between 2021 and 2025, the annual cost of energy losses attributable to non-compliant electrical conductors totaled approximately R$ 56.1 billion. This increase reflects a 13% rise in Brazil’s energy consumption between 2021 and 2025, combined with cumulative inflation of 21%, as measured by the IPCA, between 2022 and 2025. Esse conjunto de frentes – fiscalização, monitoramento digital, orientação a construtoras e conscientização – reforça o compromisso do Sindicel com a segurança do consumidor e com a legalidade do setor.. Awareness and accident data These initiatives are complemented by awareness campaigns carried out in partnership with ABRACOPEL (the Brazilian Association for Awareness of Electrical Hazards), whose surveys show an increase in fires caused by electrical overloads—many of which are associated with the overheating of substandard electrical wires and cables.
