Anuário Brasileiro do Setor de Locação de Veículos | 2024

12 Anuário Brasileiro do Setor de Locação de Veículos Brazilian Vehicle Rental Sector Yearbook 2024 Good results in a challenging year In a year that was far from peaceful for the economy, this new edition of the ABLA Yearbook offers a boost for the market, confirming that the car rental and leasing sector grew at a much higher rate than the country’s GDP. In 2023, rental companies filed gross revenues of R$44.9 billion, up by 22% year on year. The sector also managed to maintain the annual volume of vehicle purchases at around 590,000 automobiles and light commercial vehicles, with a share of close to 30% of total sales for automakers in 2023 (in the last two months, this share was over 32%). These are results that gain in importance when we remember that, in the middle of last year, the federal government’s temporary vehicle purchase discount program was launched, which did not include companies. However, it is a fact that rental companies have always been able to respond to headwinds by rolling up their sleeves and working harder. In 2023, this generated R$5.7 billion in taxes on vehicle rentals, which in itself reflects the importance of ABLA’s current mobilization with a view to avoiding more severe impacts of the Tax Reform on our activity. It is also important to highlight that this year our Yearbook has an improved section dedicated to electrified vehicles in the rental sector, with details on the total fleet and registrations of electrified models. Finally, the statistics show that we still have the capacity to grow in every region, helping the automotive industry and the country’s economy. I am sure that, by focusing on the good side, the positive side of business, this publication will further stimulate investment in the rental sector. We continue on the path to strengthening rental companies and the respect gained by our segment.. Marco Aurélio Nazaré President of the National Council at ABLA ABLA
