Engines are greener and we have to be prepared electric motors. So says Rodrigo Afonso, manager of the annual event “Latin American Electric Vehicle” (VE 2019), the largest gathering about mobility in Latin America. The event is promoted by NürnbergMesseBrasil and brings together leaders and agents of transformation in the automobile industry. “VE 2019 will showcase urban mobility and infrastructure solutions, and clean vehicle policies,” says Afonso. The executive believes in the potential of the electric vehicle market in Brazil. Much depends on investment being made by companies after the approval of Project Route 2030. Among the main requirements for electric vehicles is infrastructure. “Last year saw the Presidente Dutra and Paranaguá-Foz do Iguaçu highways have rapid recharging equipment (30 minutes) installed,” says Afonso. He says that in addition to the Rio-São Paulo axis, other regions are preparing to offer the necessary infrastructure, with solutions adapted to the characteristics of each one. The McKinsey Research Institute says that within the next ten years, 30% of vehicles in the Brazilian fleet will be electric. Afonso says some brands have already announced that as of this year they will only launch vehicles that are at least hybrids. “Volvo, for example, intends to sell one million hybrid or all-electric vehicles by 2025,” he adds. The challenges are immense and involve technical, commercial, political and financial aspects which will be dealt with at “C-MOVE,” a congress that is part of the official VE 2019 program. The trade show is set for September 17 to 19, 2019, in São Paulo (SP). Rodrigo Afonso Gerente do evento “Veículo Elétrico Latino-Americano” (VE 2019) Manager of the “Latin American Electric Vehicle” (VE 2019)
