113 2019 Anuário Brasileiro do Setor de Locação de Veículos Brazilian Vehicle Rental Sector Yearbook A ware that mobility is an issue that is increasingly important, especially in large urban centers, the National Transport Confederation (CNT) focuses on users. Bruno Batista, executive director of the CNT, says new solutions, whether for short or long distances, are the trend in Brazil and worldwide. “The demand for transport grows every day and this increases the use of shared solutions to get about,” says Batista. It is worth mentioning that to serve people who want faster, cheaper and more sustainable solutions, the CNT has studied new technologies. Batista says the opportunities for the vehicle rental sector are growing, as rental companies are also an alternative for professionals who want to work with transportation applications but do not have their own vehicles. In addition to this growing market, Batista says there is already a strong perception in much of society that vehicle ownership is becoming less viable. “Now, before buying a car, people consider cost- effectiveness and the tying up of financial resources a purchase requires,” says Batista. According Batista the expected recovery of the economy in 2019 should also have repercussions in various areas, such as rent for domestic tourism and fleet leasing for businesses. However, one of the most urgent problems to be overcome in transport is the condition of the roads. According to the CNT Yearbook, which is in its third edition, the proportion of paved roads has remained low in the last eight years, while the number of vehicles in Brazil grew by 65.4% between 2009 and 2017. Além dessa gama crescente de motoristas, o dirigente da CNT concorda que já há uma forte percepção, em grande parte da sociedade, de que manter a propriedade de um veículo é cada vez menos viável. “Agora, para comprar um carro, as pessoas consideram muito mais o custo-benefício e o alto nível de imobilização de recursos financei- ros que a compra exige”, avalia Batista. Segundo ele, a expectativa de retomada nos níveis da economia em 2019 também deve reper- cutir em frentes variadas de estímulo às locações, “tais como o aluguel para o turismo interno e o aluguel de frotas para empresas”. Porém, um dos gargalos mais urgentes a serem superados pela área do transporte é justamente a condição das estradas. Conforme o Anuário CNT, que está em sua terceira edição, a proporção de rodovias pavimentadas vem se mantendo mui- to tímida nos últimos oito anos, enquanto a frota de veículos cresceu em expressivos 65,4% entre 2009 e 2017.
