Anuário Brasileiro do Setor de Locação de Veículos | 2018
19 2018 Anuário Brasileiro do Setor de Locação de Veículos Brazilian Vehicle Rental Sector Yearbook General considerations Rental as the main activity This Yearbook continues to provide the best analysis of the rental and leasing business in Brazil. The statistics on the fleet and the purchases by rental companies continue to refer exclusively to companies registered with the Ministry of Finance to rent vehicles with or without a driver. This means companies that are not registered for such are not included. Rental as a secondary activity ABLA has been investing to expand its criteria and include other statistics in future editions of the Yearbook: the fleet and the purchases made by companies that rent vehicles as an activity that is complementary to their core business. This is the case for companies in civil construction; the provision of public services; transport of loads or people, and security companies, among others. Most companies that operate in these and other sectors are also registered at the Ministry of Finance to rent or lease vehicles as a secondary activity. Rental as the main activity + Rental as a secondary activity The size of the fleet and the purchases made by companies that rent vehicles as a complementary activity, according to preliminary surveys (done by sampling), made after the close of this Yearbook, indicated the size of the vehicle rental and leasing activity: with the inclusion of 100% of the companies registered at the Ministry of Finance for vehicle rental as a secondary activity, the total rental and leasing fleet in Brazil in 2017 was over one million vehicles. Licensed fleet and fleet in circulation This Yearbook also publishes statistics on the fleet exclusively according to the Federal Unit (State) in which the vehicles were registered - official DENATRAN records, consulted by SERPRO - regardless of the states in which the vehicles wee in circulation and / or were being driven by fleet outsourcing clients. Number of rental companies On December 31, 2017, 11,482 rental companies filed actively wit the tax authority were identified, with a fleet registered in the transit bodies, and whose primary activity was rental of vehicles with or without a driver. This publication is endorsed by SERPRO (the largest public information technology company in the world), to which ABLA is grateful for the excellent work, service and support provided during the calculation of the numbers. © Sitcokedoi | Dreamstime.com
