103 2018 Anuário Brasileiro do Setor de Locação de Veículos Brazilian Vehicle Rental Sector Yearbook The importance of rental companies to automakers’s sales T he vehicle rental and leasing sector continues to be the main customer for automakers in Brazil. The annual volume of vehicles produced generates oscillations in supply and demand which have direct consequences for the renewal and growth of the rental company fleet. The National Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers Association (ANFAVEA) has encouraging information for the rental sector, such as the expected 13.2% year-on- year growth in units produced in 2018.”The forecast is that annual production will reach 3.06 million units this year”, says the President of ANFAVEA, Antonio Megale. Growth is also forecast for sales. “We should sell 2.5 million units by the end of 2018, a significant increase of 11.7% year on year,” adds Megale. The rental sector is important in this context of optimism and transformation. “ The shared economy presents vast opportunities where vehicle rental can expand its operations. “ANFAVEA and ABLA are alert and working together on these opportunities, with a close and constructive relationship, because they represent sectors that have always been intrinsically linked,” says Megale. The macroeconomic scenario will be fundamental to achieving these optimistic forecasts. According to Megale, “Several indices have improved over the past year, such as the reduction of the basic interest rate, falling inflation, decreasing unemployment, increasing confidence and the stability of the dollar. In the view of our industry, this improvement will continue and will help drive the country’s GDP growth to between 2.5% and 3.5% in 2018,” concludes Megale.   ANFAVEA forecasts that annual vehicle production will reach 3.06 million units in 2018 Há projeção de crescimento também para as vendas. “Devemos comercializar 2,5 milhões de unidades até o final de 2018, volume que represen- tará aumento de significativos 11,7% em relação ao ano anterior”, acrescenta Antonio Megale. O setor de locação está muito inserido neste contexto otimismo e de transformações. “A eco- nomia compartilhada apresenta vastas oportuni- dades em que a locação de veículos pode, inclusi- ve, ampliar sua atuação”, diz Megale. “ANFAVEA e ABLA estão atentas e caminham de forma conjun- ta diante dessas oportunidades, com uma relação estreita e construtiva, pois representam setores que sempre estiveram intrinsicamente ligados”. O cenário macroeconômico será fundamental para que as projeções otimistas se concretizem.
