Strategies have to be designed from solid data - a much more complex task than it seems to be - especially in a world so connected and full of virtual sources. That is why branch researches are so used, mainly in developed countries. ABLA has always placed itself as a modern organization and now it has accomplished one more essencial step towards that direction, with the conclusion of the data survey on the rental sector in 2015. The job started last October and it was named “Pesquisa Nacional Estratégica de Estatísticas da Locação de Automóveis - Censo ABLA 2016”, from Portuguese, National Strategic Statistics Research of Car Rental - ABLA Census 2016. The results are here, in the ABLA Yearbook 2016. The same way it had been done by the Association, this year the numbers and statistics were again collected by crossing a series of relevant information obtained from several sources, all of them official. Reliable source ABLA carries out the 15th National Strategic Statistics Research of Car Rental. The 2016 census now counts on the guarantee of specialized company LAFIS sindicatos de locadoras (SINDLOCS). Também foram consultados dados referentes ao setor junto às Secretarias Estaduais de Fazenda, Confederação Nacional do Transporte (CNT) e Juntas Comerciais. Dessa forma, mais uma vez, a ABLA divulga nesse Anuário 2016 o faturamento do setor, a frota total circulante, o número de locadoras e de pontos de locação em cada estado, assim como os empregos diretos e indiretos que o aluguel de veículos ajuda a criar e a manter. O total de impostos recolhidos, a idade média da frota e o número de usuários também seguem fazendo parte da publicação. Os resultados deste amplo trabalho de apuração também permitiram o cruzamento do total de licenciamentos com os números das montadoras. Dessa forma, o Market Share entre as marcas dentro do setor de locação aparece novamente com precisão, assim como o número de locadoras ativas e contribuintes. In 2016, the already consolidated process of number verification done by ABLA has now received also the validation of “LAFIS Informação de Valor”, from Portuguese, LAFIS Value Information. They are a research specialized institute, which came to add their experience and credibility to the whole process already used by the Association and approved by the market. The pieces of information were verified and filtered along with DENATRAN (The National Traffic Department), SEST-SENAT (Social Transport Service and National Service of Transport Learning), Receita Federal (Federal Revenue), Cadastro Geral de Empregados e Desempregados (CAGED, the General Registry of Employed and Unemployed), regional directory boards and rental companies sindicates (SINDLOCS). Data about the sector were also consulted with the State Finance Secretaries, the National Transport Confederation (CNT) and Trade Boards. Thus, once again, ABLA divulges in this 2016 Yearbook the sector invoice, the total fleet, the number of rental companies and rental places in each state, as well as direct and indirect jobs that the car rental activity helps create and maintain. The total value of taxes paid, the average age of the fleet and the number of users keep being part of this publication. The results of this broad work of verification have also allowed crossing the total number of vehicle registrations with the car factories numbers. This way, the market share among the brands in the car rental sector comes up with precision again, as well as the number of active and tax paying rental companies.
