In addition to being potential customers, they provide a very important service to the insurance industry, being responsible for serving clients when their vehicles have been damaged and insurers offer reserve cars. The figures prove this. The fleet of rental vehicles is estimated at approximately 500,000, which makes this segment very interesting for any market that can provide products and services, especially insurance. Generali Brasil Seguros is awareof this industry andhas developed, through itspartnershipwith theSegplus insurance broker,auniqueproduct forcar rental companies.Thisproduct was launched in2013and since thenour portfoliohasgained 70,000 carsat car rental companies, representeda significant portion of the fleet insured byGenerali. Also, with the knowledge that Segplus has of the rental market, and the flexibility Generali has to develop products thatmeet theneeds of its customers,wehave createdanew cover for the sector: a guarantee for undue appropriation of rented vehicles, launched inMarch, to tackle a problem that affects everyonewhoworks in this field and, so far, has not found in the insurancemarket coverage toguarantee this risk. As in every insurance contract, it is recommended that car rental companies use an insurance broker who understands the rental market and who can draw up a proposal to best protect car rental companies’ assets and customers. Prices have to be negotiatedwhen taking out the insurance. Companies also need to choose a good broker, because they represent the insured parties, and check if the broker is legally authorized by the Private Insurance Office (SUSEP) tomake contracts. It must always be remembered that drivers are responsible for any traffic violations committed.No insurance covers any fines for rented vehicles.
